After-school Programs for Kindergarten to 8th grades

In YMCA After-school, Youth and Family programs, children gain experiences that nurture their growth and build positive values. In fact, not only can you work without worry, knowing your children are safe and well cared for, but strengthen your whole family through participation in YMCA programs that build spirit, mind and body.

YOUTH Programs

After-school MASH Program (My After-School Home)
K to 5th grades (YOUTH AFTERSCHOOL)

The Princeton Family YMCA’s “MASH” (My After School Home) program provides kids in grades Kindergarten through Fifth a safe, secure environment in which to grow and learn. Located at the Littlebrook and Johnson Park elementary schools, the Y’s MASH program features a variety of age-appropriate activities that are imaginative, enriching and fun, such as learning new languages, practicing conflict resolution among peers, and participating in community service projects. A daily snack is provided. A broad range of topics and programs in the MASH program include:

  • Homework help
  • Organized sports & games
  • Enrichment Programs
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Supervised free play
  • Foreign languages
  • CanFit Program
  • NEW! Introducing MASH CLUBS: Check out this great way for your child to spend some time exploring a new passion or favorite interest that’s conveniently located right at school. Clubs meet from 3:30 to 4:30 pm each day. Look for the Club schedule in the Fall 2008 Guide.

NEW! Home School Gym & Swim
    (YOUTH AFTERSCHOOL)

Each week class will incorporate 45 minutes of gym time and 45 minutes of swim instruction. Gym time will be coached by a YMCA sports professional and will focus on building physical fitness in each child. Age-appropriate games, sports and activities will lead to improved fitness levels in your child. Swim instruction will focus on personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports and rescue. Upon successful completion of each ability level, swimmers will receive a progress report. Perfect for home-school kids of all ages!

    Y ZONE
    (YOUTH AFTERSCHOOL)

    K – 5th grades

Please have your child(ren) join us for our Y ZONE out-of-school-time experience. All children ages 5-12 are invited to join us for stimulating, educational days filled with socialization skills, character development, sports training and friendship. Other activities include: swimming, trips, arts and cooking. See the above link for 2008-09 Y Zone themes.

    CATCH
    (YOUTH AFTERSCHOOL)

Coordinated Approach to Child Health is coming to the Princeton Family YMCA MASH program this fall!

CATCH is a coordinated school health and after school program proven to reduce the rate of child obesity and improve children’s health-related behaviors. It is the only coordinated nutrition education and physical activity program with 15 years of solid research and evidence to support its design and content. Every day CATCH is making a difference to children’s lives across North America and beyond. We look forward to making this program an included benefit to all of the MASH children in 2008-09.
